Department of Lifelong Learning
Bharathidasan University, Tiruchirappalli
The Department of Lifelong Learning (DLL), established in 1985–86 with UGC support, is a dynamic academic unit under the School of Education dedicated to promoting lifelong learning, adult education, continuing education, extension and human resource management.
The department focuses on four key areas — extension, training, research, and teaching — while offering innovative, skill-based and need-oriented programmes. Through strong collaborations with government bodies, industries, and NGOs, DLL bridges the gap between theory and practice, empowering individuals from all walks of life.
Guided by its vision of building a knowledgeable and skilled society, the department plays a vital role in fostering inclusive growth and continuous learning. It aims to empower marginalized communities through training, social entrepreneurship, and capacity-building programmes, while bridging the gap between academic knowledge and practical application for sustainable and inclusive development.
